Our Executive Team

The executive team lead our team of over 200 employees in 5 malting locations and througout our range of business operations.

Dr Richard Broadbent
President

Richard joined the business in 2002 as a Production Assistant after having obtained his Doctorate from Heriot-Watt University. In 2011 Richard undertook his role as Production and Technical Director before becoming the company President in 2020.

Eddie Douglas
Commercial Director

Ed joined the business in 1986 as a System Administrator at our Pencaitland site, east of Edinburgh. Following a range of roles in operations as well as systems, Ed became Commercial Director in May 2011.

Brett Weiman
Chief Financial Officer European Malt Operations

Brett joined the business in October 2010 as CFO and became CFO of European Malt Operations in June 2013. Brett holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Hons in Accounting Science, as well as being a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Kyrsten Moore
Director of Operations

Kyrsten started working for Mark Lawrence Grain in 2004 as a harvest student and then after 5 summers in that role and having achieved a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biochemistry, she became a permanent member of the team in 2009. After Managing our Witham Maltings for several years, Kyrsten now oversees our production as Director of Operations.

Alan Williamson
commercial Director of sales

Alan has a Law degree from Glasgow University and then qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PWC.  Having worked in the industry for over 20 years for Diageo and SAB Miller in finance and procurement roles, Alan joined Bairds in 2018 after working for Schill Malz in Germany and our sister company, Canada Malting.

Iain Davies

Iain joined Bairds as a Graduate Trainee in 2011 and started his career working alongside Eddie Douglas, Commercial Director.

In 2013, Iain became the Raw Materials Manager, working with growers throughout the UK to ensure the supply of quality barley into each of our 5 UK Malting sites.

He also sits on the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) for Cereals and Oilseeds.
