We work with a number of external, internationally recognised bodies to independently audit our processes, to continually improve what we do and provide assurance to our customers that their malt is made to the highest quality in the most environmentally sustainable and ethical manner.
International standard for quality management systems. It requires Bairds to demonstrate that we are able to consistently provide products and services that meets our customer requirements, complies with all regulatory and statutory requirements and embeds continuous improvement. It also verifies our processes to ensure full traceability of our products.
Specifies the requirements for an occupational health and safety management system and provides guidance to provide safe and healthy workplaces and prevent injuries and ill health.
We constantly measure and internally report against our key group safety metrics, continually identifying risks and opportunities for improvement and monitoring key projects.
Is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS). It supports and verifies Bairds focus to reduce waste and use our resources effectively.
FEMAS - Feed Materials Assurance scheme
Feed Material Assurance scheme verifies our compliance to animal feed safety standards so that we can demonstrate our co-products satisfies current feed safety criteria. It is based on HACCP principles and the scheme is audited and certified by an independent body. It provides further assurance on that our processes demonstrate rigorous adherence to food/feed safety standards and supports mechanisms for reducing waste and optimising our environmental footprint.
Bairds Malt participate in the Sedex programme which verifies organisational practices within the supply chain to ensure operations remain ethical for our people and planet.
Bairds is also certified for supply of Organic malts from our Inverness maltings.
Assured UK Malt
This standard is specific to the malting process providing further assurance to our customers of our food safety, product legality, good operational practice and product quality. It demonstrates that the grain supply is from an assured source and verifies traceability throughout the malting process to customer. This certification covers the accreditation of our HACCP systems which is a core element of this standard.
Bairds Malt is now AEO certified, demonstrating our role within the international supply chain is secure and that our customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.
AEO is a globally-recognised status that is increasingly being demanded by customers, particularly in the US and Asia.
