Shobnall Maltings was previously operated by Molson Coors; and became a Bairds site during 2024 as the Bairds business became part of the Soufflet Malt group.
Originally around 128,000 tonnes per year. Recent expansion increases total capacity to approximately 148,000 tonnes per year.
Recent Expansion work on site included:
- Addition of new germination tanks.
- Conversion of existing germination tanks and ovens to a cross-flow system for greater efficiency.
- Installation of heat recovery and recycling technology to reduce energy use and improve sustainability.
The Shobnall site has operated as a maltings for over a century, supplying quality malt to a wide range of brewing customers.
Historically, the maltings was one of the last floor-malting sites in Burton before modernisation was undertaken to help customers benefit from improved efficiency and sustainability from their malt production needs.
With our maltings spread across the Eastern Seaboard of the UK, we take a close interest in the weather knowing the impact that it can have on our growing partners and our malt production.
